LAUFEN Benelux

From a new department to approximately €5 million in annual revenue.

LAUFEN

Bathroom products & project business

2018–2021

Developing a project market takes more than finding new customers. It requires an organisation able to recognise, pursue and deliver opportunities. At LAUFEN Benelux, Richard combined the creation of that organisation with the development of the project business.

01 / The challenge

The context behind the challenge.

A Benelux project-business organisation within an international bathroom manufacturer.

The Benelux project-business department needed to be established from the ground up. Alongside commercial direction, it needed workable processes, a team and visibility of performance. The challenge was both commercial and organisational: develop growth while building a department capable of supporting it.

The objectives

  • Establish a recognisable, functioning Benelux project-business department.
  • Connect commercial ambition with planning, responsibilities and management information.
  • Develop a team and monitor progress through practical performance indicators.

02 / The personal contribution

Responsibility in practice.

Professional experience at LAUFEN. The employing entity and role details require confirmation before publication; no MVSD engagement is claimed.

  • Lead the new Benelux project business.
  • Take responsibility for commercial plans, budgets and team development.

Practical interventions

  1. Establish the department and develop its commercial plans and organisational structure.
  2. Prepare business plans and budgets and monitor commercial progress.
  3. Build, guide and coach the team.
  4. Introduce working processes, KPIs and management information for day-to-day leadership.

03 / THE IMPLEMENTATION

From plan to implementation

01

Establishing the commercial foundation

Department creation, market development and commercial planning were connected. The described responsibility extended beyond sales to the design of processes and the business plan.

02

Connecting growth, people and management

The team was built and coached, while budgets and KPIs provided structure for management. Commercial development gained an organisational foundation and a recurring framework for reviewing performance.

THE CONNECTION TO YOUR ORGANISATION

05 / EXECUTIVE PERSPECTIVE

What this experience illustrates

Commercial growth becomes more manageable when market development, team building and management information are developed together. The organisation behind the outcome deserves as much attention as the commercial objective.

Editorial interpretation of the experience described.

From experience to expertise

This experience connects with MVSD’s commercial strategy and interim leadership: building departments, guiding people and translating commercial ambitions into a workable organisation.
